Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what people ask most.

What is Fine Techs Companion OS?

A personal AI companion for work and everyday life. You talk or write to it, it remembers what matters, plans with you, writes drafts and keeps an eye on topics on the web for you. Whatever should go out, you approve.

Who is “Genie”?

That is your companion's name at the start. In the welcome or later under “My companion” you give it a name of your own, a look and a voice. The product is still called Fine Techs Companion OS.

Do I need my own AI key?

Yes. Without a key you can look around, but your companion does not answer. One key from OpenAI or Anthropic is enough to start; for the voice you need OpenAI, for research with sources Anthropic. How to get one is under Getting started.

What does it cost me?

Fine Techs Companion OS itself costs nothing during the pilot phase. You pay for the AI through your key directly at the provider – one chat answer usually costs less than a cent. Examples with measured values are under Costs. Pricing for companies on request.

Can it get expensive without me noticing?

That is what the caps are for: your own daily cap per area, during the pilot phase a fixed protection of at most $5.00 per day and area for new accounts, a cap per team room and per Osiris watch. At the provider you can also use prepaid credit only.

Is the app always listening?

No. The microphone is only on when you start a conversation or click the microphone in the input field. The first time, your browser asks for permission. During a conversation you can pause or end at any time.

Where is my data stored?

Primarily on our server at Hetzner in Germany. For answers, the necessary texts go to OpenAI or Anthropic (USA), with your own key. For operation and support the operator accesses the server from Turkey. The overview is under Security & privacy.

Does anything go out without me?

No. Emails, posts and anything that changes something on your behalf are created as drafts and only run after you click “Approve”. What only reads – for example viewing a connected mailbox or fetching a web page – runs without asking. Only if you explicitly switch on working on its own for a project is the question skipped – with a warning, a spending limit and a log.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Under Settings › Account you delete your whole account with all content – for good; only backups remain for the period stated in the privacy policy (on the server usually 7 days). Afterwards you can sign up again with the same address at any time.

Routines, skills and Osiris watches can also be deleted one by one right where they are. A deleted note disappears from your knowledge and is no longer used; its history stays stored in your area until you delete your account.

Can I take my data with me?

You download your notes under Second Brain as a ZIP file, also for Obsidian. Further data on request by email.

What does pilot phase mean?

Fine Techs Companion OS is in its pilot phase. Much works well, some things are still changing, and there is no guaranteed availability. Feedback helps us a lot – in the app under “Feedback” or by email.

Can the AI make mistakes?

Yes. Your companion is an AI and can be wrong, even when it sounds sure. For facts from the web it names the source. Check important things before you rely on them.

What is the difference between chat and Atelier?

In chat you talk to your companion. In the Atelier a small team of AI colleagues works on a bigger goal: it plans steps, writes drafts and a reviewer checks everything. Big requests from chat move to the Atelier automatically.

What are Private and Business?

Two separate areas with their own chats, projects, notes and keys. What you discuss privately is not visible in the business area – and vice versa.

How do I sign in? Is there a password?

No password. You enter your email address and receive a link that is valid for 15 minutes. You stay signed in as long as you use the app at least every 14 days.

How old do I have to be?

18 or older.

Who is behind it?

Fine-Techs, a sole proprietorship of Mete Han Yalçın in Alanya (Turkey). The details are in the imprint.
