The side panel

What is the side panel?

To the right of the chat there is a side panel with four tabs:

  • Second Brain – your memory as a map of points (see “Second Brain and notes”).
  • God's Eye – your overview: what is running, what is waiting for you, what got done today.
  • Osiris – your watcher that regularly checks the web for you.
  • Document – the workspace your companion writes longer texts into.

The panel only opens when you want it to: by clicking, with a sentence in the chat or by voice. On its own your companion at most asks “Want me to show you?” and offers a “Show me” button. The one exception: when it writes a document, the “Document” tab opens.

The same views also exist as pages in the left bar: Second Brain, God's Eye and Osiris.

Opening by word and voice

Write or say for example:

  • “Open my Second Brain”, “Show me God's Eye”, “Open Osiris”, “Show me the document”
  • “Zoom in on project Trade Fair” or “Show me everything about Sedat” – the Second Brain opens and flies to the matching point.
  • “Close the panel”

Genie recognises these sentences without an AI model – they cost nothing and work instantly.

Full screen, closing, phone

  • Full screen makes the panel large and folds the chat away. Esc or “Exit full screen” takes you back. The cross closes the panel.
  • Genie remembers per chat which tab you had open last.
  • On phones the panel slides up from the bottom as a sheet. Swipe down or tap the handle to close it; the input field stays reachable.

The document (workspace)

When your companion writes a concept, plan, longer text, offer or strategy, the text appears in the Document tab – section by section, while it writes. In the chat it only says briefly what is in there.

  • Edit: change the text directly (Markdown). “Save” creates a new version. Your companion sees your change in its next answer.
  • Versions: every change – yours or the companion's – is a version. You can view and restore older versions.
  • Copy and download as Word. As PDF only exists when the browser component for PDF is set up on the device; otherwise it honestly says “Word only”.
  • You can drag the divider between chat and panel.

Results from a team room

In a team room, “Open in workspace” opens the result in the same panel. Images created by a team member appear there as a link.
